Types of funeral
It is our belief that each person is individual, and that should be reflected in the service that we arrange for you. We are proud to offer a wide range of types and styles of funeral.
The initial decision will be whether to have a cremation or a burial. There are many factors that may influence this decision, including the wishes of the deceased, religion, family tradition and cost. Our knowledgeable and experienced staff are happy to assist you by providing you with answers to any questions you may have, enabling you to make an informed decision.
Some points to bear in mind when making this decision may be:
Cost: Cremation is significantly less costly than burial. This can be of particular importance if the deceased is to be buried outside of their borough or parish. Cremation can take place at any crematorium, with no extra charge for non-residents.
Time: Church services generally take approximately 45 minutes, crematorium services are around 30 minutes in length, though extra time can be purchased.
Ashes: Cremated remains will need to have a final resting place, though this can be a difficult decision to make and one that deserves time and thought. We will be happy to collect ashes from the crematorium and store them for you at no charge while you make this decision.
Memorials: If a burial is chosen a wooden marker cross, with an engraved nameplate, will be erected on the day. A period of time is required for the ground to settle before installing a stone memorial - on average this will take approximately 18 months.
Cremated remains can be interred, allowing a smaller stone memorial to be erected if desired.

Green & Woodland Burials
Natural and simple burials in beautiful parts of the countryside or woodland are an increasingly popular choice for the final resting place of a loved one. Only eco-friendly products are permitted and consequently the burial site remains as natural as possible, promoting the growth of native shrubs, plants and flowers. Delicate eco-systems and habitats are supported by this approach.
We are proud to have worked with the only dedicated natural burial ground in Kent is Deerton, near Sittingbourne. www.kentnaturalburials.co.uk is a good source of information.
For further information on any type of funeral, or if you have a different request, please do not hesitate to visit us or contact the office on 0208 331 1111 to discuss your needs.
